Why are translation memories an essential asset?
Translation memories (TMs) are files containing sentences (segments) that are translated and stored in a linguistic context for use in CAT (computer assisted translation) tools.

Translation memories:

Continuous collaboration with the same translation provider leads to more extensive, complete translation memories (databases), progressively reducing inconsistencies in terminology furnished by various providers.
In addition, medium-term agreements with the same provider mean that translation memories no longer need to be ‘cleaned’, which is ideal for maintaining the same corporate language if translations are from different sources.
